What should I wear? What’s it like? What’ll happen once I get there?

How should I act? How much should I talk? Can I lie down on the couch?

I’ll bet you have a lot of excellent questions! If so, you’ve come to the right place.

I have answers!

As you are and as you like it…

No judgment and no expectations. I don’t “expect” you to behave any certain way. And the space we share will be sacred – where you can simply come as you are.

Dress code? Comfort.

Dress in what feels good to you, so, yes, you can even wear your pjs – and stretch out on the couch. In fact, sometimes, if we’re doing some form of meditation, guided imagery, or breathing exercise, you may feel most comfortable in them.

Atmosphere? Cozy.

When you get here, either the receptionist or I will greet you with a warm smile and something to make you feel at home. Tea? Coffee? Water? And chocolates! (If I haven’t already eaten them all!)

Conversation? Casual.

Let’s get to know each other. Once we start, I’ll ask questions about your background and history to get the full picture of what has brought you into therapy during this present moment. Share as little – or as much – as you like and ask as many questions as you want. It’s all about making you feel at ease.

Evolution? Natural.

I’m a go-with-the-flow kind of person – so in terms of how session works, it may look exactly like that. We’ll always work on your goals, however; and I’ll do my best to guide and support you throughout the process in the most organic way. We’ll blend structure and more organic, conversational sessions – depending on your needs.

Support? Absolute.

We may often talk about difficult things, and painful emotions may come up from time to time, but I’ll always be right there to offer what you need in the moment – a shoulder to lean on, words of comfort, tissues for tears, or safe space you need simply to be.

We’ll find laughter in many unexpected moments, and you may even laugh at me – when I’m not laughing at myself, of course!

Welcome? Unconditional.

Frankly and honestly, the environment we create together in therapy will be a space where all of you is welcome. I invite you to share the good, bad, ugly, and indifferent in an unapologetic and authentic way.

Just be YOU.

Whatever that means at any given time is completely acceptable in this space. I ask only that we treat one another with respect, honor honesty, and compassion.

My role as your therapist is to ensure that you feel competent and comfortable implementing any coping strategies we have created in real-life situations.
